<p>Paronella Park was one of the first eco-friendly tourist attractions in Australia. Jose Paronella was involved with re-forestation and planted more than 7,000 timber, including magnificent Kauri Pines that now line Kauri Avenue. Quite amazingly, Jose Paronella single-handedly constructed the primary hydroelectric energy scheme in Australia which utilized the water pressure from Mena Creek waterfall. Jose Paronella’s hydroelectric scheme not solely powered the complete park, but also supplied electrical energy to some near-by townships. His Spanish Castle and business pleasure gardens have been an immense success and an architectural marvel. Our family had been wanting to visit Paronella Park for ages but every time we went to Tropical North Queensland, we didn’t have time for any Cairns day trips.</p>
